We support diversity through our work with local communities. For example, we sponsor Polyfest each year. We celebrate Māori Language Week with our employees, and host kapa haka performances and make announcements in te reo Māori in our terminals.
This sponsorship is one of the ways we’re supporting the incredible diversity of our local community and promoting aspiration in South Auckland through education and employment.
Our sponsorship and related activities includes:
- sponsoring and supporting the Polyfest judges
- eight new awards that recognise the huge part teachers play in guiding students to Polyfest success
- supporting local schools that are coordinating or hosting stages
- inviting successful Polyfest schools to perform in our international terminal.
Congratulations to these teaching/cultural teams! Their students have best shown the qualities employers at the airport are looking for: reliability, perseverance, teamwork and communication.
Māori and Pasifika members from our airport staff presented the awards, showing students that there are many opportunities for people from their cultures to have great careers at the airport.
